Another microblogging site, is this a twitter clone…. may be, may be not. We will see what plurk is on this post.
Plurk as a microblogging site that allows users to share short snippets or messages with each other called plurks. It is called tweets in twitter language. Users publish “plurks” publicly or privately for only other Plurkers within their “cliques”(groups) to view.
Plurk is a social journal for your life
Plurk offers some additional functionality including the ability to view a thread of connected plurks (similar to Pownce) rather than one message (as Twitter allows). To add to the features Plurk allows YouTube, Flickr, Photobucket and other services and there is a private messaging system.
There is a horizontal time line which is scrollable and you can comment on a single plurk. The comment appears as a thread. Plurk is based on an algorithm they call Karma. This algorithm gives you authority on plurk and more the Karma the better are your features as a user.
Karma can be earned with positive actions like
- Plurking each day (quality plurking that is)
- Get responses on ones own plurks from other plurkers
- Getting extra fans
Karma can be lost with negative actions like
- Karma will be lowered if a user requests friendship and gets rejected
- Getting unfollowed by friends will lower a user’s karma
- Spamming other users with too many plurks
There are a lot of wonderful things that you can do with Plurk, the most important thing being blog promotion. You can for sure build a community around your blog n Plurk, this is like any other social network you already are part of. You can set your privacy too, so that there are not any bad plurkers abusing your space.
Plurk is a nice tool and seems like it is better than Twitter (Seems like!!! and it’s just my opinion), and in the days to come there would be greater understanding of plurk. This understanding would be shared on this blog too.
